Nvidia pushes RTX 3070 launch back to October 29 to help its partners prepare more cards

Date:

The launch of Nvidia’s RTX 3000 series didn’t go smoothly with the 3080 and 3090 cards in short supply. This frustrated many would-be buyers as stores switched the status of the GPUs from “coming soon” to “out of stock” in an instant.

The Nvidia RTX 3070 was supposed to come out on October 15, however this has been pushed back to the 29th. The company explains in a blog post that this is to give its partners more time to ensure there will be enough stock on launch day and avoid further frustration.

According to Nvidia’s official numbers, the RTX 3070 will deliver similar performance to the mighty RTX 2080 Ti while costing only half as much (the new card will sell for $500).

We recommend that you wait for third-party benchmarks – especially because AMD will launch the Radeon RX 6000-series GPUs on the previous day, October 28. These are based on RDNA 2 “Big Navi”, the same core architecture as the new Xbox and PlayStation 5.
